All food is made up of nutrients which our bodies use. There are different kinds of nutrients: carbohydrates, proteins, fats »vitamins and minerals. Different foods contain different nutrients.

First of all I do not eat animal meat at all. I prefer fish and other sea products. So in the morning I usually have some cottage cheese with kefir, then I have tea with two butterbroads. At dinner I have vegetable soup, a salad and fried fish. I do not have desserts, but only tea with lemon and sugar. For supper I have just a salad and then I eat fruit.

For some food is a source of pleasure, for others - a source of energy. For me food - is a pleasant source of energy. To my mind healthy food should be quite simple. I eat complicated dishes only in restaurants. My daily meals consist of the same dishes every day.

The best way is to get into the habit of checking the ingredients and nutritional value on the sides of packets although this is not always easy to do. Another thing to know is, for example, that we do need fat to live, it's an essential part of our diet and physically we could not exist without it.

The food we eat, depends on lots of things. Taste is a big factor. Culture, religion and health also play a part in what food we eat. Advertising and social factors also have a big influence.

So I love all kinds of milk products, especially kefir, cheese. I prefer cheeses from Russia and Germany. I like different kinds of salads, dressed with olive oil or sour cream. I also love all kinds of potato dishes. I usually drink down food with natural juices or kvass.

Well, of course, on weekends I want to try a new dish. If I have free time, I try to invent a new salad or find an interesting recipe. On weekends I let myself have good red dry wine. Well, many doctors say that red wine in reasonable quantities is very good for health.

I do not buy in shops ready or semi-manufactured food products, because this is unhealthy. It is better to spend some time cooking, than to have problems with overweight and heart.

NEWSPAPERS

Newspaper is a publication that presents and comments on the news. Newspapers play an important role in shaping public opinion and informing people of current events.
The first newspapers were probably handwritten news-sheets posted in public places. The earliest daily newssheet was «Acta Diurna» ( «Daily Events») which started in Rome in 59 B.C. The first printed newspaper was Chinese publication called «Dibao» ( «Ti-pao») started in AD700 "s. * It was printed from carved wooden blocks, The first regularly published newspaper in Europe was« Avisa Relation »or« Zeitung » , started in Germany in 1609.
Newspapers have certain advantages over other mass media - magazines, TV and radio. Newspaper can cover more news and in much detail than TV or radio neWcast can do. Magazines focus on major national and international events of the preceeding week. But newspaper focuses on local news as well and provides information and comments faster than magazine can do.
There are about 1700 daily and 7500 weekly newspapers in the US. The circulation of some weeklies is no more than a few hundred of copies per issue and the circulation of some dailies is over a million of copies.
There are daily newspapers and weekly newspapers. Daily newspapers print world, national and local news. Many dailies are morning papers, others are afternoon papers. Sunday issues of the dailies are usually larger than the weekday ones. They may include special sections on such topics as entertainment, finance and travel or Sunday magazine, a guide to TV programmes, coloured comics. The major dailies in the US are «Christian Science Monitor», «New York Times», «USA Today», «Wall Street Journal», «Washington Post».
Weekly newspapers serve usually for smaller areas. They are printed in small communities where people know each other and are interested in activities of their friends and neighbours. Weeklies report of weddings, births, deaths and news of local business and politics. Most weeklies do not print world or national news.

 Education System of Ukraine / Освітня система України 

The future and the destiny of our country depends, to a great extent, on young people's general education and professional training and their intellectual and spiritual values.

The country plans to take all branchers of the economy to the most advanced levels of science and engineering, carry out extensive automation of production, ensure a basic increase in labour productivity, and take the production of output to the level of the best world samples. To carry out all these plans our country needs highly educated and highly qualified people.

The education system of Ukraine can be divided in the following types: the basic or fundamental school, the vocational and technical secondary school and higher school. Each type of the school has its task: the general school has to give young generation profound and solid knowledge of the fundamentals of sciences and how to use them practically. The most important task to be solved by school is practical training for labour activities according to the demands of life, of social, scientific and technological progress. The vocational secondary school gives young people a secondary education plus trade training.

Then goes the higher school. Each year many people enter higher educational establishments: institutes and universities.

To be admitted one must have good knowledge of the subjects taught in secondary school which have the same curricula.

Higher education is accessible to all. Young men and women have the chance of entering an institute or university. Girls students even predominate in teacher's, medical and some other institutes. Institutions of higher education have preparatory departments for those who work in agriculture and industry and are demobilized from the army. After completing the ten-month preparatory course and passing exams they are enrolled as students.

The country has three types of institutions of higher education: universities, polytechnical and specialized institutes. There are many new and old universities in Ukraine. Among them, no doubt, we can name the Lviv University. Studies, research work, social activity, various kinds of sport — they are all part of students' life. Students who have an aptitude and desire for research work may begin postgraduate studies immediately after graduation.

I am going to tell you about my school. My school is new and modern and I like it very much. It has three floors. The classrooms are light and spacious. There are classrooms for different subjects, such as English, History, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Biology Literature etc.

There is a computer class in our school. We study computer science here. The computer class has the most modern equipment and the Internet access.

We’ve also an assembly hall, which is situated on the second floor. Meetings, conferences, concerts and all the celebrations take place here. We prepare different performances for all holidays. We sing songs, recite poetry, dance, and participate in theatre performances.

There are many opportunities to go in for sports in our school. Our school has a gym, a sports ground, a football field, a swimming pool, and other sports facilities. There are many different sports groups: table tennis, swimming, athletics, football, volleyball, wrestling, and rhythmic gymnastics. Many pupils of our school attend these sports groups.

In our school we have also painting group, dance group, theatre group and rock group. All these groups are very popular and many pupils attend them.

The teachers in our school are very skilled. They try to give us all their knowledge and awake our interest to their subjects and to self study. Besides the school subjects, our teachers tell us about everything, about different problems of our world, such as ecology, nature protection, climat changes etc.

There is a good tradition in our school. Every year people who graduated our school come here to meet their teachers and classmates. These meetings take place every first Saturday of February.

I think that school years are very important for every person. It’s a period of becoming adult, achieving knowledges, and choosing your way in life. Often school friends remain your friends for all your life. So I’ll never forget my school, my teachers, and my classmates.

I have a big family. Nowadays when our independent state is developing, much attention is paid to our youth. The desire of our young people to become qualified specialists in future motivates them to enter higher educational establishments. For young people higher education is the method of developing their talents and abilities, their creative potential. That is why beside their studies they are also engaged in different clubs and organizations. Almost every school or institute has its own team of “joyful and smart” (KVN). This game is rather popular among our young people and it helps them to bring out their brightest talents and to create team spirit. Young people learn to work together, to share the moments of luck and failure.
Besides studies young people are also engaged in scientific and research work. One may say that nowadays this sphere is not paid too much attention to. This is true, but still there exist “Young Scientists’ Councils”, where young people can discuss or present their scientific investigations.
There also exists the  branch of youth organization Greenpeace in our country. Young people learn to love their land and the world that surrounds them. This organization protests against environmental pollution, against extermination of all animals, not only rare species.
Some young people work in their church organizations: they help elderly people, reconstruct our historical monuments and monasteries. This work brings them closer to our history, teaches them to love their country and respect its past.
A lot of young people go in for sports, that is why schools and institutes have sport clubs and teams. Our young people are especially interested in football, basketball, hockey, etc. There also exists a great variety of different clubs in this country. They are: theatre clubs, where young people stage different literary works; clubs “What? Where? When?”, where they can enlarge their knowledge in differentfields of science and life, and so on.
Future belongs to the young, that is why the political life of this country is important to them. Many young people are engaged in political parties and organizations such as: “the greens”, the Union of Youth.
