Millions of people all over the world spend their holidays travelling. They travel to see other countries and continents, modern cities and the ruins of ancient towns, they travel to enjoy picturesque places, or just for a change of scene. It's always interesting to discover new things, different ways of life, to meet different people, to try different food, to listen to different musical rhythms.
Those who live in the country like to go to a big city and spend their time visiting museums and art galleries, looking at shop windows and dining at exotic restaurants. City-dwellers usually like a quiet holiday by the sea or in the mountains, with nothing to do but walk and bathe and laze in the sun.
Most travellers and holiday-makers take a camera with them and take pictures of everything that interests them — the sights of a city, old churches and castles, views of mountains, lakes, valleys, plains, waterfalls, forests; different kinds of trees, flowers and plants, animals and birds.
Later, perhaps years later, they will be reminded by the photos of the happy time they have had.

People travel by train, by plane, by boat and by car.
All means of travel have their advantages and disadvantages. And people choose one according to their plans and destinations.
If we are fond of travelling, we see and learn a lot of things that we can never see or learn at home, though we may read about them in books and newspapers, and see pictures of them on TV. The best way to study geography is to travel, and the best way to get to know and understand people is to meet them in their own homes.

НАПРИКЛАД:

My favourite lesson is Physical Training. Usually we have our physical training lessons either in the gymnasium or on the sports ground. Our sports ground is situated behind the school. On the sports ground there are a football field, a volleyball ground and a basketball ground.
Before the PT lessons we put on our sports uniform. After we have changed our clothes, we go to the gymnasium and line up. At the beginning of the lesson we usually do gymnastic exercises. Then we pull up, jump, climb the rope.
On the sports ground we run. Sometimes we throw balls. We often play sports games at the PT lesson. All the boys in our form like to play football. But our girls prefer to play volleyball or basketball.

In winter at the PT lessons we ski. We ski on the sports ground or in the park. Sometimes, if the weather is cold, we go to skate at the skating rink. The boys play hockey on the sports ground too.
Many boys and girls of our form attend various sports sections. I also attend a sports section in swimming. Three times a week I go to the swimming-pool. Some of my friends go in for tennis, track-and-field athletics, boxing and other sports.

Travelling is the most exciting thing in the world. First of all, it lets us discover the world and to see different countries, experience their cultures and traditions. Moreover, we enrich our knowledge about life in general and particularly about ourselves. Travelling also gives us an opportunity to meet new interesting people, learn new languages and develop our skills. That’s why I’m trying to travel as much as possible.

The best trip I’ve ever had in my life was to France. Although it happened two years ago, but I still recall this wonderful time with a great pleasure. I went there with two of my friends and it was really the right decision, because we travelled by coach and the journey took a long time. We were playing cards on the way, singing songs and joking all the time. As we arrived we checked in a hotel not far from the center. We were exhausted but in a good mood.

Sport in our life

People all over the world are fond of sports and games. Sport makes people healthy, keeps them fit, more organized and better disciplined. Some people go in for sports for their health and some professional aims.

There are many stadiums, sport grounds, swimming pools in each town. Practically all kinds of sports are popular in our country, but football, figure-skating and tennis enjoy the greatest popularity. A lot of people are fond of jogging. In the morning and in the evening, we can see people jogging in the parks, stadiums and even in the streets. In every school pupil spend much time going in for sports. First of all, they have their physical training lessons. And when schools is over they may train at different sports clubs and sections in different kinds of sport.

Великі літери (заголовні букви) в англійській мові використовуються в словах, що починають речення, незалежно від частини мови, до якої відноситься це слово.

• There is my house. – Це мій дім.
• Are you free tomorrow? – Ти вільний завтра?

З великої літери також завжди пишуться всі власні назви (особові імена, прізвиська, географічні назви, назви друкованих видань, закладів тощо) та особовий займенник I (я) незалежно від того, де в реченні він вживається. 

• Mike likes Christmas. – Майк любить Різдво.
• This is my friend Richard. – Це мій друг Річард.

З великої літери також пишуться звання, посади та їх скорочення.

• We should call Dr James. – Ми повинні подзвонити доктору Джеймсу.
• Have you seen Professor Smith today? – Ти бачив сьогодні професора Сміта?
• Let me introduce you to Mr and Mrs Spoon. – Дозволь мені представити тебе пану та пані Спун.
• Once I have met Prince William in London. – Одного разу я зустрілась в Лондоні з принцом Вільямом.

З великої літери починаються назви національностей та мов.

• Hannah is French. – Анна - француженка.
• Americans are really proud of their country. – Американці дуже пишаються своєю країною.

• Susan can speak Arabic. – С'юзан може розмовляти арабською.
• The Polish language sounds a bit like Ukrainian. – Польська мова звучить дещо схоже з українською.

In summer children say goodbye to school. It is a time to go on holidays. In summer children have a rest, explore new places and get a new experience.

    Some prefer to go camping. They learn to put up the tent in the forest and make a campfire. They get a wonderful experience of wild life full of difficulties such as mosquitoes and like sleeping in a tent, sitting by the fire and singing songs.

    Others want to get sunburn and a nice practice in swimming. So they go to the south and lie in the sun and enjoy the soft waves.

    Some people make a choice to travel in summer. They explore countries around the world, visit the places of interest. After traveling they share their impressions with friends at school happily. Every traveler likes to display the souveniers from the places they have visited.

    You may also stay at home and enjoy outdoor activities. Summer is a good time for going in for sports.

    Anyway summer passes quickly and soon it’s time to go to school again. So we should enjoy them in every possible way.
