My summer holidays

Everyone knows that for all students the best time of the year is summer holidays. First of all, you’re free from school and may forget about textbooks, lessons, homework for all three months. Moreover, you don’t have to wake up early every day and have all this annoying routine. So you just have the opportunity to relax and enjoy perfect summer time.

As for me, my summer is quite typical from year to year. I usually spend June at home. I get up late all the time and try to be outside with my friends as much as possible. I really enjoy cool summer evenings when my friends and I can go for a walk in the park or ride around the city on our bikes. Also, we like rollerblading a lot. If the weather is bad I normally stay at home playing computer games or just surfing the Internet.

UKRAINIAN CUISINE

Ukrainian cuisine is closely linked to the customs, culture, and way of life of the Ukrainian people. It is famous for its diversity and flavours.
The most popular Ukrainian dish is borsch. This thick and delicious soup is prepared with a variety of ingredients including meat, mushrooms, beans, and even prunes.
Mushroom soups, bean and pea soups, soups with dumplings and thick millet chowders are also popular.
"Holubtsi", or stuffed cabbage, is another favourite dish, as are "varenyky" filled with potatoes, meat, cheese, sauerkraut or berries such as blue-berries or cherries. "Varenyky" are often mentioned in folk songs.
Ukrainians like dairy products. Some samples: cheese pancakes and "riazhanka" (fermented baked milk). There are no holidays without pies, "pampushky" (type of fritters), "baba" (a tall cylindrical cake) and honey cakes.
Ukrainian sausage is delicious. It is preserved in a special way — in porcelain vessels filled by melted fat.
Of course, every region of Ukraine has its own recipes and traditions.

Українська кухня
Українська кухня тісно пов'язана з традиціями, культурою і способом життя українського народу. Вона відома своєю різноманітністю і присмаками.
Найпопулярніша українська страва — це борщ. Цю густу і смачну юшку готують із безлічі інгредієнтів, включаючи м'ясо, гриби, квасолю і навіть чорнослив.
Відомі також грибні супи, квасолевий і гороховий супи, супи з галушками і густі юшки з пшоном (кулеші).
Голубці, або фарширована капуста, — ще одна така сама улюблена страва, як і вареники з картоплею, м'ясом, сиром, кислою капустою або з ягодами: із чорницею або з вишнями. Вареники часто згадуються в народних піснях.
Українці люблять молочні продукти, наприклад сирники й ряжанку (кисле пряжене молоко). Жодне свято не обходиться без пирогів, пампушок (вид оладок), «баби» (високої паски) і коржів-медовиків.
Дуже смачна українська домашня ковбаса. Її зберігають давнім способом — у керамічних посудинах, заповнених розтопленим смальцем.
Звичайно, кожна область України має свої власні рецепти й традиції.
